If we are all honest with ourselves and with each other, we will admit that we all long to be uber successful. Many of us have different levels of expectations and different heights that we hope to attain. Some of us attain our goals rather easily, but for others, they require a bit more drive, a bit more push, a bit more Steve Jobs mixed with Donald Trump.
As I rolled around my apartment nursing my injured knee, it occurred to me that technology has changed our lives in more ways than we sometimes realise. Take for instance the fact that I have not been to the bank for months because of online banking. Also, consider the fact that more and more persons have become millionaires, even billionaires over the past few years.
It has become quite evident that technology is at the forefront of this recent push to financial freedom. The random viral video, once monetized stands to bring home a handsome paycheck to its content creators. +YouTube has hundreds of millions of users around the world and was recently listed as the second largest search engine.
+Facebook and Twitter have also created their fare share of billionaires and the list goes and on. So the question in your mind now must be; do I need to create a social network to attain success on the internet? My response to that is a definite no. We should instead start small and get into it. Create a youtube channel and put original content there. +Marques Brownlee and others have risen to prominence on YouTube and are reaping the benefits of hard work, and we can too.
Another way which is probably simpler is to use the Facebooks, G+s and Twitters of today to promote a brand, product or service. At the end, we all strive to make others aware of what we have to offer and nothing beats social media to the mark at this point. The more technical among us will create apps, design skins and even various strains of operating systems to generate income. The point I'm making is that tech provides an opportunity for each of us to market our skills, and we should not just be content with being consumers, but should rather find some way to benefit from our passions.
Will we see the next Mark Zuckerberg or +Larry Page this year? Maybe not, but the fact remains that with the rapid movements of technology today, we never really know when it just might be our big day.
